How to Attract — and Keep — Top Fundraisers
How to Attract — and Keep — Top Fundraisers
Even before the pandemic sparked the so-called Great Resignation, turnover in fundraising was a major challenge for many nonprofits. In 2019 more than half of fundraisers surveyed by the Chronicle said they planned to resign within two years. Earlier studies found that about 75 percent of development professionals were thinking of quitting within a year.
With big-gift officers bringing in as much as 90 percent of fundraising revenue at some organizations, high turnover can be an existential threat.
How do some organizations hire and retain top fundraising talent, and what can you learn from them?
