Scores of community groups, colleges, and other nonprofits are discovering how to build excitement and momentum around day-long fundraising campaigns. Join us for a primer on how to plan for and carry out a one-day fundraising campaign for your cause.
You'll hear from Susan Swan Smith of the Communities Foundation of Texas, which organizes the North Texas Giving Day. She oversees the foundationÕs efforts for the giving day, which raised $26.3-million for 1,580 nonprofits in September 2014. Ms. Smith offers strategies for big and small groups to capture new audiences through social media, raise more revenue, and steward donors when the day is over.
Rebekkah Brown, vice president for advancement at Muhlenberg College will share a case study of the collegeÕs giving day, begun in 2013 with the goal of strengthening community. She'll explain how the college:
Engages key volunteers and board members to serve as online ambassadors for the campaign.
Uses social media creatively to keep the campaign exciting.
Expands its donor pool through the campaign: 25% of those who gave were first-time donors.
You'll also hear from Jeannie Howell of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation who helps oversee the regionÕs BIG Day of Giving, now in its second year. She'll share marketing tips including strategies for cutting through the noise, developing a sound email strategy, and engaging your boardÕs support with the outreach. She'll also offer guidance on what you need to do in the eight weeks before a giving day commences.
